INTEREST RATES FOR EDUCATION LOAN CONSOLIDATION FELL TO AN HISTORIC LOW for 2004-05---DEFERMENT/FORBEARANCE POSTPONEMENTS OF REPAYMENT REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR UP TO 7 YEARS! While mortgage and other loan interest rates go up daily, student loan rates are "locked in" for another year as low as 3.5%, depending upon when a resident's variable interest rate Stafford Student Loans were disbursed and whether the borrower applies during grace or repayment. Should a resident consolidate his or her student loans after July 1, 2005 (s) he may save thousands over the life of the loan depending upon their principal balance. As important for residents as the all time low future payment rate is that most will qualify for either 3 years of hardship deferment and or 4 years of forbearance. These postponements of payment allow residents to complete their hospital program without the worry of loan payments. A consolidation also means that all loans become one loan-- helping hospitals with multiple lender deferment issues.
Recently bills were introduced in the U.S. Congress to eliminate fixed interest rate Consolidation Loans. And, most new residents will be entering higher interest repayment periods in October when they leave their grace period. You are, therefore, encouraged to immediately arrange for our seminar to ensure that your residents qualify for the lower grace rate and do not lose out on what could be the financial benefit of their lifetime!
